Anthony Davies, PhD

Assistant Professor

In recent years I’ve been more and more focused on applying mathematics to help solve real-world problems. My strengths are developing mathematic models to help solve these issues.

Biography

My teaching philosophy is very simple – students do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.

My start in teaching began in Uganda where I was fortunate enough to spend 3 months there helping the local school to attract students to the classroom again after poverty really struck the area, forcing many children to work on the land with their extended family.

Teaching in a school where over 90% of the children are living off their land and eating the same meal day in and day out, brought me to the realization that caring is what they needed first. After they knew I cared, then they opened up their heart and mind where I could teach them.

I have brought this life skill with me and is now the backbone of my teaching success.
